Shontel Lewis was elected to the City Council in Denver City Council District making her one of the first two openly queer Black city councilors in Denver’s history, and the first openly queer Black woman. Lewis was elected to District 8, which incorporates parts of Park Hill, parts of Montbello, East Colfax, Central Park, and Northfield.
