He discusses childhood movement between parents, band and saxophone, early same-sex experiences, sexual shame, violence, military life during the Vietnam era, relationships with men and women, alcohol, work, and the difficulty of building intimacy. Johnson reflects on therapy, Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous, monogamy, honesty, and the long process of separating sexuality from secrecy.
